Myanmar 0 Philippines 0 - Filipinos through to last four

NAM DINH: The Philippines secured a place in the semi-finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup after completing an unbeaten Group B campaign with a goalless draw against Myanmar at the Thien Truong Stadium on Wednesday.

The Filipinos had the better of the chances in the match and struck the woodwork on three occasions against Myanmar side who had little to play for.

Vietnam 1 Singapore 0 - Vietnam bounce back to seal semi spot

Hanoi: Ten-man Vietnam booked themselves a place in the semi-finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup as Nguyen Vu Phong's solitary strike earned Henrique Calisto's team a 1-0 win over Singapore at My Dinh Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Vu Phong's goal gave the Vietnamese their second win of the tournament and ensured the defending champions not only progress to the last four but win Group B ahead of the Philippines.

Indonesia 2 Thailand 1 - Bambang double ends Thai hopes

JAKARTA: Bambang Pamungkas converted two late penalties as Indonesia came from behind to beat Thailand 2-1 on Tuesday and send the three-time champions crashing out of the AFF Suzuki Cup.

Thailand appeared to be on course for the win that they needed to progress when Suree Sukha fired them ahead in the 68th minute at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.

Malaysia 5 Laos 1 - Five-goal Malaysians book semi spot

Palembang: Two goals from Amri Yahyah sent Malaysia on their way to a 5-1 win over Laos in their final Group A clash on Tuesday evening, with the victory securing K. Rajagopal's team a place in the semi-finals of the 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup.

The win marked a dramatic turnaround for a Malaysian team that lost their opening game of the tournament against group hosts Indonesia before drawing with Thailand three days later.

Thais looking to dominate Indonesians again

JAKARTA: Thailand coach Bryan Robson is hopeful that his team can maintain their good record against Indonesia at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium when the two sides clash in their final Group A game on Tuesday evening.

The Thais have come out on top in both previous AFF Suzuki Cup meetings against the home side in Jakarta. They famously took the 2002 title by downing the hosts on penalties in the final and also won 1-0 in the first leg of the semi-finals two years ago.

Laos, Malaysia maintaining semi-final hopes

PALEMBANG: Despite his team's heavy defeat against Indonesia last Saturday, Laos coach David Booth has not given up hope of seeing his side advance to the semi-finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup.

The Laotians are bottom of Group A on goal difference after their 6-0 mauling by the hosts during the weekend. But they still have realistic hope of reaching the last four if they beat Malaysia at the Jaka Baring Stadium and Thailand fail to win against Indonesia in Jakarta on Tuesday evening.

No drop in Thai standards: Sutee

JAKARTA: Midfielder Sutee Suksomkit sees no difference between Thailand's successful sides of the past and the team of the present but he admits that the rest of the teams in Southeast Asia have caught up with the former regional kingpins.

Sutee and Therdsak Chaiman are the only two survivors in Thailand's current AFF Suzuki Cup squad who were also involved in their victorious campaign in Jakarta in 2002. Playing with a team that included the likes of Kiatisuk Senamuang, Woorawoot Srimaka and Surachai Jaturapattarapong, the Thais beat Indonesia on penalties at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium eight years ago to win the regional title for the third time in four attempts.

Hanoi: The Philippines recorded the biggest upset in the history of the AFF Suzuki Cup on Sunday evening as Simon McMenemy's side handed defending champions Vietnam a 2-0 defeat in their Group B encounter at My Dinh Stadium.

Chris Greatwich and Phil Younghusband scored a goal in each half to give the unfancied Filipinos the greatest result in the country's recent history and leave them on the verge of qualifying for the semifinals for the first time.

Singapore 2 Myanmar 1 - Duric, Casmir rescue Singapore

HANOI:  Agu Casmir scored deep into stoppage time as three-time champions Singapore battled back after going behind to hand Myanmar a 2-1 defeat the My Dinh Stadium in Group B of the AFF Suzuki Cup on Sunday evening.

Khin Maung Lwin had given Myanmar the lead in the 13th minute of a drab first half in which neither team shone but a half-time reshuffle by Lions coach Raddy Avramovic swung the balance back in favour of his side in the second 45 minutes.

Laos 0 Indonesia 6

JAKARTA: Indonesia secured first place in Group A and a spot in the AFF Suzuki Cup semi-finals after recording their second emphatic win of the competition with a 6-0 demolition of Laos on Saturday.

Skipper Firman Utina scored twice and Muhammad Ridwan, Irfan Bachdim, Arif Suyono and Oktovianus Maniani added a goal each to send Alfred Riedl's side through to the last four with a game to spare.

The Indonesians, who trounced Malaysia 5-1 in their opening game, will now meet the runners-up from Group B in the last four with the second leg of the tie in Jakarta on Sunday, December 19

Thailand 0 Malaysia 0

JAKARTA: Thailand did little to help their chances in the AFF Suzuki Cup as they were held to a goalless draw by Malaysia at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Saturday.

The three-time champions struggled to break down their opponents on a heavy surface as they were held to their second consecutive draw in Group A. They will likely need a win against hosts Indonesia in their final group game on Tuesday to guarantee their progress to the last four.

Singapore 1 - 1 Philippines: Late Greatwich strike shocks Singapore

Chris Greatwich claimed a spectacular injury time equaliser to earn the Philippines a surprise but well-deserved 1-1 draw with three-time champions Singapore in Hanoi's My Dinh Stadium in group B of the AFF Suzuki Cup on Thursday evening.

The England-born midfielder popped up to push home James Younghusband's late cross to earn the Philippines a rare point in the final stages of the competition.

Indonesia 5 Malaysia 1

JAKARTA: Indonesia made a perfect start to their AFF Suzuki Cup campaign after coming from behind to trounce Malaysia 5-1 in their Group A opener at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Wednesday.

After weathering an early storm, Norshahrul Idlan fired the Tigers into a surprise lead with a breakaway goal in the 18th minute. But the hosts levelled shortly afterwards when Malaysian defender Asraruddin Putra turned Irfan Bachdim's low cross into his own net.

Thailand 2 Laos 2

JAKARTA: Sarayoot Chaikamdee spared Thailand's blushes as his stoppage-time header earned the AFF Suzuki Cup favourites a 2-2 draw with qualifiers Laos in their Group A opener at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Wednesday.

A brilliant finish by substitute Kanlaya Sysomvang eight minutes from time had looked to put the Laotians on course for a shock win. But having already cancelled out Konekham Inthammavong's opening goal with a 68th minute equaliser, Sarayoot headed in a cross by Sutee Suksomkit to salvage a point for Bryan Robson's side.

Robson regards Therdsak as a key man

JAKARTA: Thailand coach Bryan Robson has lauded the positive influence that Therdsak Chaiman has had on his team and likened the veteran Thai playmaker to ex-England international midfielder Paul Scholes.

Therdsak is one of only two members of the current squad, along with midfielder Sutee Suksomkit, who played in Thailand's last victorious AFF Suzuki Cup campaign in 2002. Indeed he started in all five matches for his country that year and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after the Thais beat Indonesia on penalties in the final in Jakarta.

Indonesia vs Malaysia

Safiq meluap-luap

“Kami pasti menggandakan usaha malam esok.

Indonesia eye tough opener

JAKARTA: After watching his side manage straightforward wins against Timor Leste and Chinese Taipei in their warm-up matches, Indonesia assistant coach Wolfgang Pikal is expecting a much sterner test when the Group A hosts face Malaysia in their AFF Suzuki Cup opener on Wednesday.

The Malaysians are fielding a fairly youthful side and have been badly affected by injuries in their build-up to the biennial tournament, but Indonesia are not about to take the Tigers lightly.

ACL, AFCC 2010 teams

Kuala Lumpur: The list of participating teams in the 2011 edition of the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup has been announced.

Thirty teams get direct entry to the AFC Champions League while two more join them via the play-offs.

In the AFC Cup there are 28 direct entries while four teams will come through the AFC Champions League play-offs.

The play-off for the ACL will involve, from the West: Dempo SC (India), Al Sadd (Qatar), Al Ittihad (Syria) and Al Ain (UAE). From the East, Sriwijaya (Indonesia) and Thailand (Muangthong United) are eligible.

Pressure is off for Malaysia

JAKARTA: His side may have ended their long gold medal drought at the South-east Asia Games last year but Malaysia team manager Datuk Subahan Kamal has insisted that his players will be under no pressure to emulate that feat in this year's AFF Suzuki Cup.

Malaysia have not reached the final of the Asean region's premier international football tournament since finishing runners-up to Thailand in the inaugural tournament in Singapore in 1996.

Thais look to shake off fatigue for Laos test

JAKARTA: Fatigue and fitness are the key concerns for Thailand and Laos ahead of their AFF Suzuki Cup Group A opener at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Wednesday.

Thailand coach Bryan Robson has expressed worries about the freshness of his side, which only arrived in Indonesia on Monday after 12 players had been involved in the Thai FA Cup final a day earlier.

Meanwhile, his English compatriot, Laos coach David Booth is sweating on the health of some of his players who are feeling the effects of a case of food poisoning last week.

Akmal Rizal ke Perak

Akmal Rizal ubah angin

Tunjuk peningkatan - Rajagobal

Amri tekad balas kepercayaan Raja
