Lions Ready to Roar

Singapore have named their provisional squad of 26 players for the AFF Suzuki Cup in December with defender Daniel Bennett poised to reach a century of caps during the tournament.

Coach Radojko Avramovic has picked an experienced squad with more than half the team having seen action in earlier editions of the AFF Suzuki Cup.

Bennett is the most capped player with 95 matches under his belt for the two-time champions.

Striker Noh Alam Shah, who plays his club football for Arema in Indonesia, is the top scorer in the line-up with 35 goals in 77 appearances for The Lions.

He scored 10 goals in the 2007 AFF Suzuki Cup but only found the target twice two years ago when Singapore were eliminated by Vietnam at the semi-final stage.

The seemingly evergreen Aleksandar Duric, who turned 40 in August, will be looking to add to his tally of 12 goals for Singapore during their campaign to win a record third title.

Avramovic will trim the squad to 22 players ahead of their matches in Group B against co-hosts and holders Vietnam, Myanmar and the Philippines. Their first game in Hanoi is against the Philippines on December 2.
